Horse Carriage Driving Competitions in North Lancashire

I got my passion for carriage driving through my Grandparents who enjoyed competing through the 1980’s and 90’s. From a young age I went with them to as many competitions as possible and was determined to follow them into the sport.

A short story about us

Aged 12 I started to compete at local events and enjoyed many successes. At 14 I competed at national novice level events including the National Championships that year.

When I was 15, I spent the summer holidays grooming for Emily Bennett at international driving competitions in Europe including a World Championship and this really inspired me to aim for top level competition in the future. At home I had a young horse who I produced myself and at 17 I was competing with Theo at senior national open level and held my own amongst the countries best single horse drivers. That year I also won the Junior National Championships driving a pony owned by John Garlick.

Since then, my career has continued to grow, there have been ups and downs and quieter periods due to time spent building an equestrian business to support my career. Over the years I have been fortunate to train with several successful drivers and knowledgeable horse people and have developed a structured training system to develop horses through to the top of the sport.

I have competed Nationally and Internationally for many years and have won both indoor and outdoor driving National Championships. I have represented Great Britain at the World Driving Championships in 2019 and 2024.

I aim to be able to compete at international level on a regular basis and represent Great Britain at more World Championships in the future, progressing towards a medal position.

As much as I am a very competitive person and love to compete at the bigger competitions, I really enjoy the training process, developing a partnership with my horses and seeing them grow in confidence and ability. I strongly believe that our competitive aspirations should never be at a cost to the horse’s welfare and quality of life.
